Coast Guard Searches For Decatur Man Missing From Cruise Ship
Reco Scott, 32, who was reportedly on his honeymoon, jumped from Carnival Cruise Line's cabin balcony early Friday.

DECATUR, GA -- The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a Decatur man in the Atlantic Ocean after he went overboard from a cruise ship, Patch has learned.
Reco Scott, 32, who was reportedly on his honeymoon, was observed jumping from the cabin balcony of a Carnival Cruise Line ship before dawn Friday, according to a statement from company spokeswoman Jennifer De La Cruz.
The cruise ship, which disembarked from Cape Canaveral, Florida was near the Berry Islands close to the Bahamas, when the incident occurred. The ship was headed to Nassau.

"Scott reportedly went overboard from the ninth deck of the cruise ship at approximately 5 a.m.," the Coast Guard said in a statement. "The cruise ship launched a search and contacted watch standers at the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center."

βThe shipβs command immediately turned the vessel around and began search procedures,β De La Cruz said, according to the Miami Herald. The Coast Guard has deployed a chopper, a ship, and two other vessels to find Scott, the Herald reports.

Scott's family has been notified about his disappearance, according to local media.
βWe extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,β De La Cruz said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
