Construction Begins On Commerce Drive Cycle Track

The track will run from the intersection of N. McDonough Street and W. Trinity Place to Commerce Drive and then on Commerce to Clairemont.

DECATUR, GA -- Construction has begun on the new Commerce Drive Cycle Track and is expected to last up to a year. The city has awarded a contract to Lewallen Construction Company to complete the track.

Cycle tracks are bicycle lanes physically separated from automobile traffic. This segment will run west from the intersection of N. McDonough Street and W. Trinity Place to Commerce Drive and then north/northeast on Commerce Drive to its intersection with Clairemont Avenue. It was the first project recommended for implementation in the city’s PATH Connectivity Plan.

On Commerce Drive, the new plan includes four vehicle lanes between Clairemont and West Ponce de Leon Avenue, with three lanes between West Ponce and West Trinity Place. West Trinity will have four vehicle lanes.
