- City Schools of Decatur has announced the recipients of its 2022 Teacher of the Year awards. The district chose Wanda Nesbitt, a gifted intervention teacher at Westchester Elementary, as this year's District Teacher of the Year. - DeKalb County will once again be opening warming centers today. The warming centers will be at Fire Stations 3, 4, and 6, and at the North DeKalb Senior Center. The warming centers will be operating through Nov. 18, opening at 8:00 p.m. Individuals staying at the warming centers must follow the county's COVID-19 protocols. (Decaturish.com)
- The teen that was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting in DeKalb County has been identified as Jaynee Chavez, 17 years old. Chavez was Towers High School's homecoming queen and the captain of her Jr. ROTC team. Her friend, Brandon Wilson, 23 years old, is still in critical condition. There has not been any information about any potential suspects, at this time. (Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch)
