- Testing for COVID-19 just got easier. Decatur received one of more than a dozen COVID-19 PCR testing kiosks provided by the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH). According to the DPH, the kiosk will offer testing 24/7. It will distribute the materials needed to swab and seal your specimen and there will be daily pickups. Tests will be sent to a nearby lab. There is no out-of-pocket cost for testing. You can find the kiosk at 440 Winn Way. (Decaturish)
- Monkeypox vaccination appointments have been completely filled for the DeKalb County Board of Health vaccination event today. Many in the state have reported difficulty with finding available appointments. The Board of Health suggests that those interested in receiving the vaccine follow them on social media to receive future event announcements and updates. (DeKalb County Board of Health via Twitter)
- This spring, the Medlock Park playground in Decatur will get a $240,000 upgrade. According to Decaturish, the new park will include shaders that will cover playground equipment so that children can still play outside even when it’s hot. This is a project that’s been on hold apparently due to supply chain issues and funding. (Decaturish)
