  1. Parents and teachers of Briarlake Elementary School finally have a principal they can praise. After voicing their opinions regarding the removal of the former school principal, Jamela Lewis, parents and school faculty are now rejoicing in the efforts of their new principal, Camille Jones. (Decaturish.com )
  2. The Old Depot building at 303 E. Howard Ave., which houses the award-winning restaurant Kimball House, has secured its future in Decatur. The owners of the restaurant have reached a sales agreement with Decatur's Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Funds from the sale might be used to make improvements to Decatur's downtown district. In the meantime, one of the restaurant owners, Bryan Rackley, has stated that he and his partners have invested over $750,000 to preserve some of the historic- buildings' most integral designs. The building is protected by the local Historic Preservation Commission in Decatur so any changes to the exterior of the restaurant must first be approved by the commission.   3. Lawn and Order, not to be confused with Law and Order, the television series! (ha), has received the 2022 Top Client Rated Atlanta Lawn Service Company Award by Find Local Landscapers. They service the North Decatur communities and others as well. (Yahoo Finance)
  4. In the past few years, the state of Georgia has failed to include at least 15 deaths of its inmates, according to the state’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. One of the deceased is Latonya Mckenzie, a 44-year-old woman who died at Emory Decatur Hospital. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
