- Nic Wilson, whose grandmother, Elizabeth Wilson, the first African American woman to become mayor of Decatur, spoke about why he wanted to become governor of Georgia. During his interview, he shared how his family always wanted to be of help to others and how they were always interested in the news. (MLB.com)
- At its meeting on June 16, The Decatur Downtown Development made recommendations that the city should move forward with its downtown master plan. Further discussion concerning this recommendation is scheduled to take place at the Decatur Downtown Development meeting today. (Decaturish.com)
- The family of Brianna Grier, a 28-year-old Decatur woman, who died after falling out of a moving police car, recently filed a civil rights lawsuit. The family's lawyer made the announcement last week. According to reports, the officers who placed Brianna in the back seat of the police car didn't close the rear passenger door before they drove off. Brianna suffered brain trauma and later died on July 21 of last year. (GEORGIA LAW NEWS)
- Degas Wright, the portfolio manager of Decatur Capital Management, was recently accepted into the ArtExpo Basel Show in Switzerland. His original watercolor art painting, ‘Paceline,’ was placed on an electronic billboard within Switzerland's EuroAirport last week. (FIN News)
- According to DeKalb County officers, a fight between two individuals led to a shooting this past weekend. The incident happened at a nightclub on Glenwood Road in DeKalb County. Everyone survived the incident, however, five people were injured. Officers have stated that the victims were still in the hospital and no arrests were made at the time. (WSB Atlanta)
