Decatur Police Don't Know If Abduction Attempts Connected
On Monday, a man tried to get a boy to climb into his car.

Decatur police say they don't know if is connected to earier attempts in surrounding jurisdictions.
About 5:30 p.m. Monday, a black male driving a black Toyota Prius on Commerce Drive tried to lure a boy into the car by offering a free dog. The boy ran away.
Police Capt. Scott Richards said other attempts that occurred in February and March in Stone Mountain, Candler Park and Cobb County involved different kinds of cars.

"The vehicle in this one doesn't match," he said.
The descriptions of the suspects don't match up exactly. The suspect in one of the Stone Mountain attempts wore dreadlocks. The driver of the Prius had close-cropped hair. The other descriptions were not very specific.

Richards said police are taking the report seriously. An investigator has been assigned to the case but no arrests have been made.
"There's no indication it didn't occur," Richards said. "The child did everything right, running away and seeking help and not falling into the trap."
