DeKalb Food Scores: Smoothie King, The Corner Cup Coffee, Subway

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Want to grab breakfast at Waffle House or try a new restaurant nearby? DeKalb County offers plenty of options no matter what you're in the mood to eat. Here's a look at the latest restaurant inspection scores from the past two weeks.

A total of 107 DeKalb County restaurants and food-service operations were inspected since Sept. 9 — the last time Patch posted a restaurant score roundup — in Atlanta, Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Decatur, Doraville, Dunwoody, Lithonia, Stonecrest, Stone Mountain and Tucker.

Of the 107 restaurants, 75 received grades of A, 28 of them received grades of B, and three received a C: Phat Phish in Atlanta, China Hot Pot in Doraville and Touchdown Wings in Lithonia.

One also received a U: Smoothie King on Henderson Mill Road. The inspector reported that one blender had "heavy residue" and was not properly cleaned, and a dead bee was on the side of the equipment. More dead bees were found in the front window, and the inspector noted fruit flies and regular flies throughout the store. Other violations can be viewed here.

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from the best possible score of 100. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points.

Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70 and U for less than 70.
