DeKalb Inmate Dies After Being Found Unresponsive In Cell
DeKalb County authorities say the 35-year-old man was found unresponsive during a medical emergency at the local jail.
DECATUR, GA — A DeKalb County Jail inmate died Wednesday after being found unresponsive in his cell, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities said Regis Darnell Jackson, 35, of Macon, was found unresponsive during a medical emergency. Jackson was taken to Emory Decatur Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
A cause of death was not released. Jackson had been incarcerated on various unknown felony charges since August 2022 at the jail, authorities said.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards is investigating the death.
