- On June 1, the DeKalb County Jail hired a new private contractor, Armor Health of Miami, to handle all of its medical services. Prior to Armor Health of Miami, Wellpath and Centurion were the County jail's contractors. Wellpath and Centurion are named in a lawsuit that was filed by an inmate's family, Anthony Walker, who sadly died while in DeKalb County jail. (Decaturish.com )
- Terry Koval has been placed on the list of the top chefs in the country! Koval is the owner and head chef of The Deer and the Dove restaurant located on Sycamore Street in downtown Decatur. The restaurant opened in 2019 and specializes in “rustic, New American” cuisine. (WSB Atlanta)
- DeKalb County Public Library and Inclusivv, are hosting an event to address the importance of belonging in workplaces, academic affiliations, and communities, post the pandemic. The event is titled “Culture & Community: Let’s Talk About Belonging.” It will take place on June 8 at 6 p.m., at the Clarkston Community Center, 3701 College Ave. Registration and light refreshments will begin at 5:30 p.m. (On Common Ground News)
- At approximately 3 a.m. a young male was shot. The shooting occurred near Wesley Club Drive in Decatur. He was taken to the hospital. The victim's identity has not been released. The incident is still under investigation. (Patch)
