DeKalb Legislative Cabinet To Provide Water Fort Myers School District

A community breakfast will be held Nov. 5, along with a bottled water collection to send to the storm-battered school district.

The DeKalb Legislative Community Cabinet will be hosting a community breakfast on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 9 am to 11 am, and collecting bottled water to send to schools in the Fort Myers School District.

The breakfast will take place at the Southwest DeKalb High School auditorium atrium. The high school is located at 2863 Kelley Chapel Rd, in Decatur.

“We're partnering with our local community which includes churches, schools, labor unions, fraternities, and sororities to support those children affected by Hurricane Ian in Florida”, said Watson.

Watson shared that members of the community can donate water at the DeKalb Legislative Community Breakfast, or attendees can also bring water to the Southwest DeKalb High School Band Room Monday through Friday from 12 noon until 4 pm.

“The Southwest DeKalb High School band is one of our partners and they are challenging all other bands, athletic departments, and students to send water to the children in Fort Myers Florida School District”, stated Watson.

Watson also said that they are reaching out to sponsors like Kroger, Publix, and Aldi to help with this challenge and that Teamsters Local 728 is providing the truck and a driver to deliver the water to Ft. Myers Florida.

The DeKalb Legislative Community Cabinet consists of the Honorable Howard Mosby, the Honorable Stan Watson, the Honorable Doreen Carter, the Honorable Dewey McClain, and the Honorable Pam Stephenson.

Since 1996, Stan Watson has utilized this platform to connect elected and appointed officials, public safety representatives, and county, state, and federal services and resources, with the community.
