Here are the top stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:
- There was a double shooting Wednesday afternoon at the Budgetel Inn & Suites at 2945 Gus Place in Decatur. One person is deceased and the other was taken to the hospital to be treated. Police have yet to release any information regarding a suspect. This incident is still under investigation. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- Once again the DeKalb County Police Department's Community Policing Unit is spreading warmth with its' Third Annual Winter Clothing Drive. Today between 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. officers will be at their headquarters on West Exchange Place gathering donations to be given to those in need. (Decaturish.com )
- Senior residents of Decatur's Magnolia Circle Apartments are still dealing with the damages caused by the frigid weather we experienced recently. According to reports, some of the residents have stated that they can't bathe, or flush their commodes, and are relying on family members to bring them bottled water for daily use. Officials have stated that they are working as fast as they can. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Veteran, William Luther Richardson Jr. passed away on Dec. 21, on his 75th wedding anniversary at the age of 98. In the eyes of his family, he held on in order to honor his wife's wishes to celebrate their anniversary. Funeral services will be held in Decatur. (Legacy.com)
