DeKalb Residents Invited To Walk Saturday

Event sponsored by Commissioner Larry Johnson, The Heart of the South DeKalb Inc., and America Walks.

DECATUR, GA -- DeKalb County residents who want to get out and take advantage of the warmer temperatures Saturday are invited to put on their walking shoes and walk with Commissioner Larry Johnson of District 3 and others.

The walking event is designed to give residents an opportunity to explore the natural landscape as a pedestrian.

The event is sponsored by Johnson, The Heart of the South DeKalb Inc., and America Walks, a nonprofit national group that advocates physical activity through walking.

Johnson has set a goal of walking 300 miles with residents of DeKalb -- and they've logged more than 220 so far, according to a news release.

When: Saturday, March 18. Warm-up starts at 8:30 a.m. and walk begins at 9 a.m.
