DeKalb Restaurant Inspections: El Patron, Hodgepodge Coffee

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Nearly 20 DeKalb County restaurants and food-service operations were inspected since June 3, including in Atlanta, Brookhaven, Avondale Estates, Chamblee, Decatur, Doraville and Dunwoody.

A total of 18 DeKalb County eateries were inspected in the last week, with 16 of those entities receiving As.

One of them received a grade of B — Gokul Sweets in Decatur — and one received an unacceptable score: El Patron Restaurant in Chamblee.

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from the best possible score of 100. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points.

Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.
