DeKalb School District Hosts Cyber Safety Day on Tuesday
Event includes a 9 a.m. Twitter chat using the #CyberSafeDeKalb hashtag.

DECATUR, GA -- Many schoolchildren these days have cellphones in which they can stay in contact with their family as well as engage with peers on social networks. The DeKalb County School District is using this fact to educate its students this week on the safe use of social media and the internet.
The event, called βCyber Safety Dayβ is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 7 district-wide.
The school district's 102,000 students and staff are encouraged to wear yellow clothing to signify their solidarity with and cyber safety activities. The district has long offered instruction on how to remain safe online, but Tuesday's events, which will include classes teaching digital citizenship lessons, is a renewed, wider effort.
