  1. Dr. Devon Horton, the county's new superintendent, was sworn in at the Superior Courthouse in Decatur. Horton's official start date is tomorrow, July 1. County officials have expressed their gratitude and support concerning Horton's position. (DeKalb County School District)
  2. If you're looking for things to do this July 4 weekend, Eddie's Attic, located at 515 North McDonough St. in Decatur, will showcase live music from Ari Collective. The entry fee is $26.70 and the event is from 9:15-11 p.m. There will be a wide range of different music including pop, folk, rock, and more. For more information, you can call 404-377-4976.   3. DeKalb County Police are investigating the decayed body of a toddler that was found in a closet at the Hidden Valley Apartments on Misty Water Drive, located in Decatur. According to neighbors, the apartment had been assumed vacant since the last tenant moved out, though there were squatters seen in the apartment as well. (Law & Crime)

  • A notice went out to the public regarding school and district offices. They will be closed until Monday, July 10. (City Schools of Decatur via Facebook)
