- A regular meeting will be held by the DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees on Monday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be accessible in person and via live stream. The in-person location is at DeKalb County Public Library; 3560 Kensington Road in Decatur. To access the live stream, you may click on the link, weissingera@dekalblibrary.org. - An ongoing investigation by the Atlanta Police Department is being conducted after the news of a shooting on West Peachtree Street, between 12th and 13th Street was reported. The building the shooting took place was 1100 West Peachtree St. There are a variety of medical offices within this location, and it's operated by Northside Hospital. As of 7 p.m., the suspect has yet to be apprehended. He has been identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson. Reportedly, there are five victims. Four of the victims have been transported to the hospital for treatment, and one sadly didn't survive the shooting. (Decaturish.com)
- Over $10 million is being loaned for a project for a 100-unit multifamily property in Decatur. It is a garden-style apartment community comprised of 13 buildings that offer two-bedroom units. "The loan carries a five-year term and amortization, with full-term interest-only payments and 4.5 years of yield maintenance. In addition to the acquisition, loan proceeds enable the borrower to make improvements to the property. (https://patch.com/georgia/deca...)
- Repairs on sidewalks and curbs are set to take place in Avondale Estates. The repairs are scheduled to take place within the next month. There may be traffic diversions. The city will advise when the time approaches. (https://decaturish.com/2023/05...)
- The grand opening of the Electric Owl Studios has been announced. It is the world’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It's located in DeKalb County, south of Decatur. The studio is scheduled to open on June 8, of this year, with a ribbon cutting. (What Now Atlanta)
