DECATUR, GA — A suspicious envelope containing non-hazardous materials triggered an evacuation at the DeKalb County Courthouse early Thursday afternoon, DeKalb County authorities said.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said the downtown Decatur courthouse was shut down for several hours while authorities investigated the package at the county clerk's office.

It was determined the materials did not pose a threat, and the courthouse has since been reopened, authorities said. The origin of the envelope was unknown.
