- Paris Onyeokoro recently graduated from Georgia State University Perimeter College's in Decatur. Onyeokoro studied within the health sciences program. She has applied to GSU's nursing program and is waiting to hear back from them. Becoming a nurse is dear to her, after taking care of her mom who suffered from colon cancer. Onyeokoro hopes she can not only bring healing to others but also be an example to her family. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- Enil Guillen, 20, was pronounced deceased at the DeKalb County jail on May 29. This is the first death recorded this year within the DeKalb County jail. According to reports Guillen's death has been ruled as a suicide. He was in DeKalb County jail since May 11. (Decaturish.com)
- On May 30 the City Schools of Decatur made an announcement pertaining to the new principal of Decatur High School. For the upcoming school year of 2023-2024, Duane Sprull will lead DHS as principal. Currently, he is the Decatur Career Academy director for CSD. Prior to working at CSD, Sprull taught at the DeKalb County School District. (Decaturish.com)
- A father living in the Decatur area is now looking for a new home for himself and his family after bullets were fired through his children's bedroom as they slept Saturday evening. The father, Deon Green, said he and his family have only been living in the home for approximately one month. He works two jobs and just wants to provide a safe space for his children. During his report, he stated that there is a need for more policing and security. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
