Here are the top stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:
- Decatur Food Hub, which is owned by CloudKitchens, has run into a couple of delays regarding its opening day. The original opening was set for this month but due to the planning to add additional windows to the building, delays have been put into place. CloudKitchens also has opened nearly 30 other restaurants across the U.S, including a location in Atlanta. The nearest location in Decatur will be located at 2670 E College Ave. (Decaturish.com)
- April Biagioni, who was an advocate that joined teachers outside the CSD’s central office in September 2022 to protest the district’s plan to return to in-person learning, is now suing the City Schools of Decatur. Biagioni's federal lawsuit alleges that the district said she and her family no longer lived in Decatur, which would cause for her children to be removed from their schools. Biagioni denies these claims and stated that all three of her children met the cities requirements by attending school virtually during the pandemic. Her lawyer, Anita Bala, has won similar cases in the past. (Decaturish.com)
- The DeKalb County Charter Review Commission is scheduled to hold an in-person meeting at the Manuel J. Maloof, 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur. The meeting is scheduled for Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. There will be free parking at the DeKalb County Courthouse parking lot for the event. (Press Release Desk)
