  1. Decatur County Sheriff's Office has successfully removed another firearms trafficker off the streets. A 45-year-old male from Bainbridge has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and 3 years of supervised release. Back in 2019, Decatur County deputies found over 20 stolen handguns in the 45-year old's home. (WALB)
  2. A relief for some of Decatur's low-income population is underway. The Decatur Housing Authority has been awarded low-income housing tax credits for the first phase of South Housing Village. The property location is 700-722 South Columbia Drive in Decatur and is projected to have 132 units of affordable housing for those who qualify. (Decaturish.com)
  3. Updated information has recently been released concerning an 11-year-old Jonesboro girl missing from her home since Dec. 13. The young girl has been found and reunited with her family. Clayton County police believe this incident might be related to child sex tracking, an ongoing issue that affects communities here in Decatur, where a married couple was recently arrested following an investigation involving child rape.   4. Sanitation services on Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, have been canceled for residential customers in observance of the holidays. There are many other delays throughout Decatur and DeKalb County in general.   • Hannukah begins on Dec. 18, and Chabad Intown will be hosting events celebrating the holiday. One of the events will be held at 509 McDonough St. in Decatur on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 6 p.m. The cost is free but an $18 suggested donation.
