- DeKalb County is experiencing a backlog of food stamps and federally funded assistance programs. Despite the delay, there are several food pantries and programs in the county assisting residents in need. Decatur residents can find assistance at the Decatur Area Emergency Assistance Ministry. Assistance is provided by appointment only. A complete list of alternative assistance programs can be found at the link. (Champion)
- DeKalb County has been providing bottled water to customers affected by a recent water main break. The incident occurred on Covington Highway near South Hairston Road. A private contractor hit a 16-inch-diameter water main belonging to the county on Nov. 22, according to DeKalb County. Residents might experience low to no water pressure during the repairs. - The DeKalb County Police Department reports a missing man has been located safely. Reuben Hurley, 73 years old, went missing from his residence in Stone Mountain on Thanksgiving morning. The department asked for the community's assistance in locating Hurley. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
