Former Cop Found Not Guilty In Murder Case

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A DeKalb County jury found Robert Olsen, a former county police officer who shot and killed Anthony Hill in March 2015, not guilty of felony murder, according to reports.

Hill, who was a 27-year-old Afghanistan veteran, was naked and knocking on doors in a Chamblee apartment complex, reports said. Hill suffered from post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorder, and was off his medication at the time, reports said.

Olsen, who is white, was dispatched to the complex. He said he thought Hill, who was black, was high on drugs and that he feared for his safety. Police say Hill ran toward officers and did not obey commands to stop.

Witnesses said Hill, who was not armed, slowed down, but didn't stop.

But prosecutors said Olsen could have used non-lethal force, WSB reported.

Olsen was found guilty of aggravated assault, a WSB report says.
