- State Representatives Sandra Scott, Viola Davis, and Kim Schofield are scheduled to attend an event honoring the memory of Ahmaud Arbery on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 6:00 p.m. at the Beltline’s Westside Trail Entrance at 1000 White St. SW in Atlanta. Feb. 23. marks the 3rd year of the day Ahmaud Arbery was chased down and murdered by Travis McMichael and Greg McMichael. The memorial will take place exactly one year to the day when the State of Georgia declared February 23rd as Ahmaud Arbery Day in the state of Georgia. Wanda Cooper-Joneshas announced discussions regarding a scholarship in honor of Ahmaud. State Reps Davis, Schofield and Scott have introduced three bills that promote police accountability. - Tributes and well wishes continue to go out to the family and friends of former president Jimmy Carter, following news of his recent admittance into hospice care. The former president turned 98 in October of last year. He served as president from 1977- 1981, marking his place in history as our 39th president. The Carter Center reported that Mr. Jimmy Carter is surrounded by family while in hospice care. A number of tributes and well wishes poured in for Carter over the weekend. (GPB News)
- Colliers, the Florida-based chain closed a deal with Publix on Feb. 16. The development will be in one of Decatur’s newest commercial retail spaces located at Sam’s Crossing Village. Parellel to East Ponce de Leon Avenue and close to Avondale MARTA Station, the development provides the accessibility shoppers have been hoping for. (The Atlanta Voice)
- Mike Killeen, a former employee of the Decatur-based strategic marketing agency, Lenz, was announced as president, CEO, and sole owner of the company. The company was founded in 1992 by Richard J. Lenz, who has reportedly stepped away from the daily operations of the company. (Champion)
