GBI Announces Promotion Of Samantha Balkaran

Balkaran will serve as a Non-Criminal Justice Compliance Specialist Supervisor.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of Samantha Balkaran to Non-Criminal Justice (NCJ) Compliance Specialist Supervisor of the Georgia Crime Information Center at GBI Headquarters. Ms. Balkaran will supervise the NCJ Audit and Training staff and conduct performance audits of county, state, and public safety agencies and authorities as required by law. She will also develop and conduct trainings to ensure compliance with FBI CJIS policy and regulations.

Ms. Balkaran began her career with the GBI in June 2012 in the investigation division as a communication equipment officer. In 2013, she transferred to the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Division as a NCJ information specialist. In 2016, Ms. Balkaran was one of two employees that helped to develop the NCJ Training Unit.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of four divisions: the Georgia Crime Information Center, the Crime Lab, the Investigative Division, and the Legal Division. The GBI has just over 900 employees and a budget of $147,482,036.
