GBI Names New Assistant Special Agent In Charge

Stacey Cheeks was promoted to the role.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of Stacey Cheeks to Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the GBI’s Region 10 Field Office in Conyers, GA. ASAC Cheeks will be responsible for assisting with daily operations and supervision of special agents assigned to the office.

ASAC Cheeks started his policing career in 2004 with the Fulton County Police Department. He worked patrol, crime suppression, criminal investigations, and narcotics, and was a member of the SWAT team. He joined GBI as a special agent in 2015 and was assigned to the Region 10 office. He transferred to the Georgia Information Sharing and Analysis Center in 2018 and was assigned to FBI at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. There he investigated complaints of insider threats, conducted drug interdiction operations, and acted as a liaison for local, state, and federal partners regarding matters of the airport and/or airlines. He is also a member of the GBI Special Enforcement Team.

ASAC Cheeks received a criminal justice degree from Georgia State University in 2022. He is from Albany, GA, and currently resides in Powder Springs, GA.
