DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County residents can get $50 prepaid debit cards and backpacks for students during the county's back-to-school COVID-19 vaccination and testing event Saturday.

This is the second time the county has offered $50 in exchange for COVID-19 vaccinations, offering the same deal at an event last weekend. As of July 28, 334, 557 DeKalb County residents — or 45 percent — were fully vaccinated, according to Georgia Department of Public Health data.

“With the continued dramatic rise in the number of cases and hospitalizations associated with the COVID-19 Delta variant, time is of the essence,” DeKalb District Health Director Sandra J. Valenciano said in a news release. “Our community must rally together now to stop COVID-19 and that begins with getting vaccinated, in order to protect everyone, especially our most vulnerable residents and our young children who are not yet eligible for the vaccine.”
