Golden Glide Skating Rink Closing Down In Decatur

Golden Glide roller skating center is shutting its doors, Patch has learned.

DECATUR, GA -- One of Decatur's most beloved roller rinks is set to hang up its skates, Patch has learned. Golden Glide, a DeKalb County entertainment institution, is shutting its doors in the coming days. The family friendly venue at 2750 Wesley Chapel Road has been a popular spot for teenagers for the past two decades.

Known for its arcade, games and the live music provided by a DJ, Golden Glide has long provided a fun respite for area young people looking to enjoy the weekend. The establishment is slated to close down Sunday, according to an administrator.

On Twitter, "Golden Glide" trended across Twitter in the Atlanta area, an ominous sign that something was happening to the Decatur staple. Calls to the venue were not returned.
