Google Fiber To Cause Road Closures In Decatur, City Warns
Street work being done to bring high-speed internet to area communities, residents warned.

DECATUR, GA – As Google Fiber continues its rollout throughout Decatur, the city is alerting residents that several streets will be impacted in the coming days, including lane closures and aerial work above roads.
“Google Fiber will continue to work within the City of Decatur this month,” the city said in a release this week. “In addition to the underground utility work, they are starting to install aerial infrastructure and upgrading poles. Both the underground and aerial work will require lane closures/road closures in certain areas.”
As Patch previously reported, DeKalb area residents have eagerly awaited the entry of Google Fiber into the area’s high-speed internet market.
