Here are the top stories today in Decatur-Avondale Estates:
- An announcement to launch the Green Forrest Water Line Replacement Project was made yesterday. The DeKalb County project is scheduled to pick back up on May 1 of this year and flow through Feb. 2024. 20,200 linear feet of deteriorating water lines will be replaced. - After a week long "Stop Cop City Week of Action," The Food Autonomy Festival was held. There was a week of festivals, protests and other demonstrations that occurred throughout Atlanta and within the forest of the opposed "Cop City." By the end of it all activists and environmentalist planted 200 fruit trees, reminisced, sang songs, and tried to put into words all that has taken place since the plans for the proposed training center. - The Resmark Cos. and Eastwood Homes are developing a single family rental community not too far from Decatur- Avondale Estates. The rentals are destined for the Atlanta suburbs. They will consist of 220-units and built on a 30-acre parcel at Interstate 75, Center Road and Smiley Ingram Road SE. Construction for the project will begin this spring and is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2024. (Multi-Housing News)
