Green Fest Comes To Decatur Saturday

A cask of Terrapin's Tree Hugger beer will be tapped on Wednesday to kick off the celebration.

All things green will be celebrated from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday during Decatur Green Fest 2012.

The event on the Decatur Square features 10 restaurants offering food in an organic/local food tasting pavilion; a green fashion show; 56 green vendors and services; eight environmental groups; 10 artists working with recycled materials and a KidZone.

There will music throughout the day on two stages, with the Squirrelheads performing at 7 p.m. on the main stage. Admission is free.

Green Fest 2012 benefits the Dogwood Alliance and the , the new name for the Oakhurst Community Garden Project.

To kick off things, Terrapin Beer Co., one of the title sponsors for the festival, will tap a cask of Tree Hugger on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Brick Store Pub.

The Dectatur Minute says, "Tree Hugger is an altbier made with organic ingredients and is a fantastic version of the traditional style.  The Square Pub and Marley House will also be tapping different versions of tree hugger on the same night."
