Here's a List of Decatur Streets That Will Get Fixes in 2017
City Commissioners approve plan to improve infrastructure by repairing and resurfacing several roads.

DECATUR, GA -- A handful of streets in Decatur are slated next year to get the equivalent of the spa treatment: Repair, resurfacing, patching and more as part of City Commissioners’ plan to improve infrastructure.
Along with GDOT’s “Road Surface Management Pavement Condition Evaluation System,” which is used to access whether roads need to be fixed, the streets were selected recently based on feedback from the people who know them best: Residents.
"I think all citizens in Decatur benefit from our regular maintenance and repair plan to keep our streets in good repair and we include funds for doing so in our yearly budgets," Mayor Patti Garrett told Patch.

The project, which reportedly will begin next fall, is slated to cost $485,000 with about a third of it coming from GDOT and the city paying for the rest.
"It's good for Decatur residents as these street sections are in real need of repairs and it allows the City to take care of our worst street sections on an ongoing basis," City Commissioner Fred Boykin told Patch.

"We also receive some funding from the State of Georgia Local Maintenance Grant Funds," Garrett said.
The streets that will be worked on are:
Bucher Drive (South Candler Street to Avery Street)
Eastland Drive (Willow Lane to city limits)
Kathryn Avenue (Coventry Road to Mockingbird Lane)
Jefferson Place (East College Avenue to Ansley Street)
McKoy Street (East Benson to dead end)
Pensdale Road (Willow Lane to city limits)
The total length of roads covered in the repairs is about 1 mile, the City Commissioners said.
