  1. DeKalb County government and local church organizations have come together to distribute 5,000 boxes of fruits, vegetables, eggs, chicken, and other foods and beverages. Ninety-nine percent of the food is grown in Georgia. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 24 at 9 a.m. at Shy Temple CME Church, 2030 Wesley Chapel Road, and the Big Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Big Miller Grove Way, both in Decatur.   2. The Decatur Waterworks has been a historic site since 2006. Two years later, construction on the trail began. The funding for the trail has come from the PATH Foundation and has now reached its completion. There are accessible trails and bridges that connect to various sites to be seen and explored, at the public's discretion. (Atlas Obscura)
  3. Dean Hesse, a photographer for Decaturish, which covers much of Decatur, has been named a finalist in the Atlanta Press Club Awards. This is Hesse's second year to be honored by the Atlanta Press Club. Some of his work includes a photo essay about Shermantown, which covers the historic African American neighborhood that is located in downtown Stone Mountain. (Decaturish.com)
  4. A flash flood warning, which was issued for Decatur, Gwinnett County, and other areas has been canceled. The watch is still in effect in surrounding communities until Friday. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  5. The DeKalb County animal shelter is on a mission to find forever homes for 140 dogs. The clock is ticking for those who are interested in adding to their family. The shelter is hoping to find families for the 140 dogs by the end of this weekend, according to a LifeLine Animal Project operator employee. (Decaturish.com)
