- The city of Decatur is looking to attract a new grocer to the location of 720 Commerce Drive in Decatur. The location was once occupied by Baby Kroger. The grocery chain unexpectedly closed its doors on Dec. 2, 2022. Reports stated that Kroger had a remaining 2 years left on its lease. Angela Threadgill, Decatur planning and economic development director, has outlined the city's plans for the location during the Downtown Development Authority meeting on March 10. (Decaturish.com)
- On March 9, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the promotion of Elizabeth Andrews. Andrews will lead as director of the Child Victims Unit within the Medical Examiner’s Office. The Child Victims Unit (CVU) will provide pediatric injury evaluation, prevention services, and more. ‌Ms. Andrews began her career with GBI in 2008 in Forensic Biology and is also the current governor-appointed Chair for the Child Fatality Review Panel. - The Legacy Park Master Plan has finally accomplished what it envisioned back in 2018 when it was the topic of discussion during its community visioning process. The plan was to build an inclusive playground for children of all ages and abilities and on March 9 the playground had its ribbon cutting and official opening day. The site features ideas that came from children attending Oakhurst School. It's located across from Hyatt Cottage at Legacy Park, 500 S. Columbia Drive. (Decaturish.com)

- Avondale Estates City Commission approved a contract with Lexipol to develop a new police policy manual. The contract was approved on March 8. There will also be a new community policy review committee to help with the reviews. (https://decaturish.com/2023/03...)
- March 5-11 was National School Breakfast Week and the students and staff at Talley were told that the meals would be delicious but to their surprise, they also enjoyed the excitement surrounding the themes that accompanied the meals every day. - Training for dogs can be very expensive and Doggie Harmony is willing to invest in these trainings that they believe will help them find a forever home. Those interested can head on over to the rescue to check out the pups that are up for grabs! (Doggie Harmony Rescue via Facebook)
