- Unfortunately, not all of our furry little friends are in good health. Cats and dogs suffer from disease in the forms of arthritis and illnesses that cause them disabilities. Fortunately, their owners have the available services of Resurgence Veterinary Mobility. Resurgence Veterinary Mobility opened its doors back in December. Veterinarian Cara McNamee said that she is grateful for the temporary location she once had on DeKalb Industrial Way, however, she is thankful for the new 5,000-square-foot facility. She stated that many of the services she and her team provide aren't found in surrounding areas. (Champion)
- Right down the street from Decatur-Avondale Estates, we have our neighboring town of Stone Mountain which is going through some rezoning issues. Housing development at 4994 Rockbridge Road continued to be met with opposing opinions until recently. The plan was originally proposed back in December 2021 and was deferred and deferred multiple times afterward. Reports state that Captura Properties have renegotiated its requests asking permission to build 124 units as opposed to its original 161 units. The DeKalb Planning Commission staff have recommended the approval of the rezoning application with stipulations such as two parks, the preservation of healthy trees in vegetation zones. - Sen. Jon Ossoff has announced that his hard-fought efforts to expand internet access to Georgia counties have been approved. The funds are made available through the American Rescue Plan Act for the amount of $234 million. The senator expressed how important this expansion is for children, local businesses, and farmers.
