- According to Mark Butler, the Georgia Labor Commissioner, unemployment rates are down in all of Georgia's regional commissions. Employ Georgia posted 66, 217 job openings on their website. So there are still positions to be filled. So you can tell a friend and a friend of a friend to head on over to Employ GA if they're looking for work, my friend! (All On Georgia)
- It's been a little more than two years since the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners decided to remove the Confederate obelisk and replace it with the late Rep. John Lewis. The John Lewis Commemorative Task Force selected Basil Watson, an Atlanta artist to create the statue that is to honor the late Rep. John Lewis. It's been said that it will take approximately 18 months to complete the 16-feet- tall statue which will be displayed in Decatur Square and will depict Lewis with his hands over his heart which he used to express his love towards others. - A member of the DeKalb Traffic Specialist Unit has advised that the case involving Quanisha Ball, a young woman who died at the intersection of Scott Boulevard at Blackmon Drive in November, is still open and under investigation. The 31-year-old was crossing the intersection to catch the shuttle to her job at the Winship Cancer Institute was she was struck by a Dodge Challenger. Medical Examiner has ruled the death as an “accident.” Though it is not clear if the driver will be charged with a crime in the future. (Decaturish.com )
