DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A DeKalb County grand jury indicted the man accused of shooting and killing a grocery store cashier and getting into a shootout with security personnel at Big Bear Supermarket earlier this year.

The grand jury indicted Victor Lee Tucker Jr., 30, of Palmetto, earlier this month on six charges: malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault against a public safety officer and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Back in June, Tucker was involved in an argument with 41-year-old cashier Laquitta Willis over face masks, investigators said, but it's still not completely clear what was said during the dispute. He then left the store without purchasing anything, but returned with a gun and shot Willis in the head.

A DeKalb County Sheriff's Office reserves deputy, 54-year-old Danny Jordan, was working part-time security at the supermarket when the shooting happened. He intervened and fired his gun at Tucker, striking him — but Tucker also shot the deputy twice, a DeKalb sheriff's spokesperson said at the time.

Both Tucker and Jordan were taken to the hospital with injuries, and both men survived. Tucker was released from the hospital and booked into the DeKalb County jail June 18.

Willis worked at the supermarket for more than 10 years, and both customers and Jordan were at a candlelight vigil in honor of Willis days after the shooting.

"She was very nice. I've been knowing her for 10 years. I have come in and she's always been treated like family," Dorothy Ramsey, a longtime customer, told WSB-TV in June.

Tucker's arraignment is scheduled Oct. 19, according to online court records.
