Massive Fire Engulfs Abandoned DeKalb Building
Person may be trapped inside, according to news reports.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA -- DeKalb County firefighters Monday morning are battling a massive fire that has engulfed an abandoned building. A person trying to escape the cold weather may be inside, according to news reports.
The building, an old doctor's office, is in the 4800 block of Redan Road.
“Our hope of hopes is that there’s no one inside,” DeKalb fire Capt. Eric Jackson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Jackson said that several problems encountered firefighters trying to stop the blaze. First, firefighters were sent to the wrong address, he said. Also, they had some fire hydrant issues.

"As we were turning the water on the fire hydrant, the stem broke," he said. They were successfully able to find a hydrant nearby, he said.
Fire crews responded to reports that a person was trapped inside, according to WXIA-TV. Firefighters have yet to find anyone in the two-story structure.
