'The Blackest Black Friday Ever' Grand Opening In DeKalb County

The new Black Wall Street Market's grand opening is Nov. 26 in DeKalb County.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA β€” The New Black Wall Street is hosting its grand opening Nov. 26 in Stonecrest, according to its Facebook.

Located at 8109 Mall Parkway, the venue labels itself a β€œdestination for family fun, entertainment, retail, gourmet grocery shopping and fine dining.” There are over 100 shops and restaurants in the new development. They said they saw over 10,000 visitors over the soft-opening weekend in October.

The New Black Wall Street Market is an extension of the Allen Entrepreneurial Institute. According to its website its mission is to increase the size and number of minority and women-owned businesses throughout the United States and globally. They will also provide training, customer service and online sales support.

In a promotional video, the project’s owner and developer, businessman Lecester β€œBill” Allen says that this country was built on the backs of Black slaves.

β€œWe don’t own enough of this country which we have built,” he said. β€œWe need to take more responsibility in our communities to own more than just the houses and the clothes, to be more than just consumers of goods and services, but providers of goods and services, especially to our own communities.

Soft-open hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
