New Bomb Threats Target Decatur Schools Friday
Parents can expect additional security when picking up their kids from Decatur schools Friday.

DECATUR, GA -- Another round of bomb threats similar to those that rocked the nation Thursday were received by Decatur city schools on Friday. In a statement, the Decatur city school system said its schools are operating as normal but with additional security and police present. Officials said there is no need to pick up their children early.
"We are allowing parents to check students in and out for scheduled appointments, but please expect additional scrutiny when accessing the building," school officials said on Facebook. "Law enforcement is investigating the threats, and several schools have additional officers present."
Five DeKalb County schools were locked down Thursday morning after each of them received bomb threats. Dunwoody police said at 7:22 am Thursday morning, someone called in a bomb threat to Dunwoody Elementary School. The DeKalb County school district said public safety officers were sent to each school to assist with local police in determining the validity of the threats. None of the threats were found to be credible.

On Nov. 27, all Decatur city schools were locked down for almost an entire day after police received several threats against multiple schools. Decatur police received reports of a bomb threat against one school and threats of gun violence against two others. No evidence was found.

The Forsyth County Sheriff Office reports the numerous calls Thursday from business owners across Gwinnett and Forsyth Counties about bomb threats, was an overseas "phishing scam."
