- The roadways will soon be newly paved. The project is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 9. Work will be done on East Ponce de Leon Avenue, from Sycamore Drive to North Arcadia Avenue. Notifications will be sent out three days before the construction begins. To avoid possible towing, vehicles shouldn't be parked on the roads from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. the hours that work will be performed. (Decaturish.com )
- A New Year's Eve party ended early on that eve. As a group of teenagers tried to bring the new year in with a "bang." Neighbors on Fitzgerald Court called the police due to loud noises from the home. The party was broken up with no arrest and the owner of the property still has yet to be heard from. - Williamson Roberts who was born in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, my home state, passed on Dec.28. Mr. Roberts lived in Atlanta most of his life and attended Decatur High School. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children when he passed. Services will be held at 2773 N. Decatur Road on Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. To plant trees in his memory you can visit the Sympathy Store. - The Decatur Education Foundation is wishing Clarence a speedy recovery. Clarence Strickland has been hospitalized for about a month at Emory Clifton Hospital. What began as an unknown pain has evolved into many diagnoses. Donations are being asked of those who love and miss Decatur High's dear friend.
