  1. Officials from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office have made arrests surrounding individuals who are said to be part of illegal contraband being smuggled into the DeKalb County jail. Amongst some of the items were eyeglasses, marijuana, and Versace glasses. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, is the newest federal holiday in the United States. Many celebrations are and have been going on through this weekend, celebrating the holiday. June 19 is the official day of the holiday. Many people may not know the history surrounding the holiday. Don't fret though! The festivities for the national holiday have already begun in some areas and here in Georgia, locals can join in the celebration, which commemorates the day in 1865 when slavery officially ended in the United States. Centennial Olympic Park, 265 Park Ave., will host the Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival. There will be live- cultural music, beautiful hand-made merchandise, fun activities, and much more.
