The shooting occurred Friday, July 18 around midnight. Investigators believe the incident may be a case of mistaken identity or an act of violence instigated in their home country of Guatemala.

According to Ford, neither Pereyda nor LΓ³pez had lived in the area for long. Pereyda reportedly had his bags packed and was in the process of returning to his family in Guatemala.
