  1. Decatur Police are looking for a man accused of striking and breaking the side mirror on a utility contractor's vehicle. Investigators reported the incident happened on Aug. 2 in the 400 block of East College Avenue. "An adult male wearing a yellow shirt and blue shorts approached the vehicle and intentionally struck the driver’s side mirror causing it to break," said Sgt. John Bender. "The contractor confronted the male, and he became verbally defensive and left the area.” A photo of the man is at the link. (Decaturish.com)
  2. DeKalb County Schools Superintendent Dr. Vasanne S. Tinsley spoke with Decaturish about the top questions parents have before the start of school. Students are returning to school this upcoming Monday, Aug. 8. Check out the Q&A at the link. (Decaturish.com )
  3. A 43-year-old Ellenwood man has been arrested for allegedly shooting another man during an altercation at his residence on Jul. 24. According to the investigation, Tomeaco Staples was attempting to diffuse an argument between Fabain Leon Gaither and another person. Warrants say Gaither fired the gun and shot Staples in the chest and arm. Gaither was arrested earlier this week and transported to the DeKalb County Jail. (On Common Ground News)
