Police Seek Suspect In Fatal Shooting of Decatur Girl

Dwight Lewis 'pointed a semi-automatic handgun' at SUV and shot teenager to death, police say.

DECATUR, GA -- Police in Atlanta are searching for a man who they say opened fire on a 16-year-old Decatur girl, killing her outside an apartment complex in southwest Atlanta.

Keosha Tinch was shot to death Feb. 2 in the parking lot outside the Deerfield Gardens Apartment on the 2900 block of Campbellton Road. As Patch previously reported, She was sitting in the back of an SUV when a confrontation between another passenger and a man outside led to a gunfight.

Dwight Lewis "pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim('s) vehicle and fired several shots inside the vehicle which caused the death of a 16 year old female," police said in a Facebook post.

A GoFundMe account set up in behalf of the victim's family says that Keosha was "excited about life and turning 17."

"Another young teen has been killed due to gun violence. Keosha Tinch was only 16 years old and was excited about life and turning 17 on February 12th. Killed in Deerfield apartments on Campbellton rd... The family has no insurance and we are asking for any amount God allows your heart to give."

The GoFundMe had reached $1,380 of its $5,00o goal as of Wednesday.
