  1. More details have come in regarding the teacher and principal at Decatur High School. After a town hall meeting and a student protest- walkout, an email from Decatur High School's principal surfaced. Apparently, within this email principal Rochelle Lofstrand has denied that the teacher in question, spoke any racial slur word. Both the principal and teacher have been assigned positions outside of the school while the superintendent is evaluating the situation. ( https://decaturish.com/2023/01...)
  2. A father of five went to a Texaco Gas Station on Columbia Drive in Decatur on Wednesday with his father-in-law to get gas and was shot. The man asked reporters not to use his name but is on camera as he gives his account of the story. According to the victim, he was having a conversation with his father-in-law when he was shot in one leg. The bullet then traveled from one leg to another, where it still remains. The DeKalb County Police have released surveillance pictures of the suspect and say he left in a dark-colored car. The father of five is now relying on a crutch and is out of work while he recovers.   3. Mrs. Merle Moore, who lived in Conyers for 16 years but was also a resident of Decatur for 40 years passed on Jan. 5. She was 95 yrs. old, great-grandmother, and enjoyed gardening from an early age. She also enjoyed sharing her flowers and plants with her neighbors and family.
