Sanitation Delays Expected In DeKalb Due To Tropical Storm Fred

DeKalb County's sanitation division said residents with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday pickup routes will likely experience delays.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County residents should prepare for trash and recycling pickup delays this week due to rainfall from Tropical Storm Fred, county officials said in a news release Tuesday.

Tropical Storm Fred made landfall Monday night on the Gulf coast of Florida, and the National Weather Service predicts up to 5 inches of rain could be dumped all across Georgia, including DeKalb County. A tornado watch, flash flood warning and river flood warnings are also in effect in DeKalb County.

Residents with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday pickup routes may experience sanitation service delays, county officials said. Sanitation crews will work through Saturday, if necessary, to make sure all households are serviced once the storm has passed.

Residents are encouraged to keep their garbage, recycling and yard trimmings at the curb until servicing occurs.

“The Sanitation Division apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates residents’ patience as residential collection teams work toward safely completing this week’s collection schedule,” the department said in the release.
