  1. Avondale Estates Mayor Jonathan Elmore addressed issues regarding smart growth and development in his State of the City address. The speech was made Thursday, March 30, at Wild Heaven Beer. In 2022, the city delivered the Town Green project which included a commercial development. Construction on the development is said to begin this year. (Decaturish.com)
  2. The Charter Review Commission met on Wednesday and was a continuation of the larger discussion surrounding the DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer position. The county is the only county in Georgia with this type of county executive officer. Discussions regarding the efficiency of the system have been ongoing since its beginning. (Decaturish.com)
  3. Chris L. Jackson, 19, of Atlanta, who was wanted for murder and armed robbery was apprehended by a K-9 officer in a multi-jurisdictional effort that involved the DeKalb County Sherriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, Georgia State Patrol, U.S. Marshalls, Atlanta Police Department, and Fulton County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. The incident took place on March 24. The suspect was eventually arrested on Fairburn Road SW in Atlanta. According to officials, Jackson attempted to flee and was subdued by a K-9 officer. He was later transported to a local hospital. His current condition is not presently known. (Champion)
