Storm Downs Big Tree Limb in Decatur

Authorities say few other problems reported in Decatur and Avondale Estates.

The rainstorm that soaked the Atlanta area on Monday knocked down a large tree limb that struck a house on Oakland Street in Decatur.

Decatur Fire Chief Toni Washington said no injuries and or major problems were reported. A power outage on Scott Bouleavard was not related to the storm, she said.

Only small limbs were knocked down in Avondale Estates, City Manager Clai Brown said.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the storm dropped half a foot of rain on some areas of Atlanta. Chamblee reported 3.8 inches of rain, ajc.com said.

Georgia Power reported that about 1,400 metro customers didn't have power before daybreak Tuesday, ajc.com said.

The weather forecast for today doesn't call for any additional rain. It will be mostly cloudy with highs around 76 and lows in the mid-50s.
