  1. The city of Decatur has recently appointed Renae Jackson as its first equity and engagement director. She was the former communications manager and public information officer for the city of Decatur. She's also known for her work at the Racial Equity Institute, being credited with introducing city employees to racial equity training and organizing the anti-racist speaker series back in 2020 and 2021. 2. Following up on a story that was posted previously, today is the first day of the annual paving project. Construction will be performed by Magnum Paving and will include asphalt base patching, resurfacing, and concrete sidewalk repairs on East Ponce de Leon Avenue from Sycamore Drive to North Arcadia Avenue. Hours of construction are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and all vehicles must be removed from the streets during this time. (https://decaturish.com/2023/01...)
  3. With a failing score of 56, a DeKalb County Burger King failed its health inspection after once having a passing score of 81. The Burger King on North Druid Hills Road's most recent inspection failed due to having outdated food and a dead roach issue. The restaurant still had its passing score of 81 on display when it was supposed to have the most recent failing score posted, this too was a violation. (WSB Atlanta)
